📝 Recipe Ingredients & Notes
With simple recipes like Caprese Salad with Burrata, there is nowhere to hide. The taste of this salad depends on the quality of the ingredients you use.
- Burrata Cheese. If possible look for Italian burrata at the gourmet food stores for a real Mediterranean experience. Alternatively, you can use mozzarella cheese.
- Tomatoes. You can use any tomatoes you like as long as they are nice and ripe. My favorite to make Caprese salad are heirloom tomatoes. But cherry tomatoes can be a great choice too because they are so sweet and always available in the supermarkets.
- Olive oil. Opt for a good quality extra virgin olive oil.
- Salt and pepper. Yes, even salt and pepper have to be good quality to make this Italian salad. Look for sea salt flakes and freshly ground black pepper to make this recipe.
💡 Balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze. The authentic Caprese Salad does NOT require balsamic vinegar of any kind. It will simply ruin the taste of stracciatella from burrata and the sweetness of tomatoes. However adding balsamic vinegar became quite popular so if you feel like you want to add some, go ahead and enjoy!
