Recipe Ingredients
This easy creamy avocado lime dressing comes together with just 4 ingredients: an avocado, a lime, a garlic clove, and fresh cilantro (coriander). So simple.
Variations and Substitutions
This easy dressing recipe is very versatile and can be easily adjusted to your taste:
- Swap lime juice for lemon juice.
- Replace cilantro with parsley or dill.
- Add chili flakes for a bit of heat.
- Incorporate a tablespoon of organic Greek yogurt for extra creaminess and protein.
- A dash of maple syrup can balance the acidity of the lime.
- Adjust the thickness by adding filtered water
How To Choose An Avocado?
To make a creamy dressing, you need a ripe avocado. If you are shopping at a small veggie shop, ask the owner to choose one for you. The guy at my local shop is brilliant at choosing them just right.
If you have to choose an avocado yourself, go for one that is dark in color and slightly soft to the touch. Avoid avocados with spots, as they are likely overripened, resulting in a stringy texture and unpleasant taste.

How To Make Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing
Step 1: Cut the avocado in half and remove the pip.
Step 2: Scoop the avocado flesh out and put it in a small food processor or a blender.
Step 3: Add crushed garlic, chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt and pepper.
Step 4: Blend to desired consistency. Taste it and add a little more salt and lime juice if needed.
❄️ Storage
To keep your creamy avocado lime dressing fresh, transfer it to an airtight glass container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. For the best taste and texture, make sure to use it within this time frame. Give it a quick stir before serving, as it may separate slightly while stored.
🍴 How To Serve
While the first thing that comes to mind is using it as a salad dressing, this avocado dressing can be used in many ways:
- As a dip for fresh veggie sticks.
- Served with grilled chicken or fish.
- As a spread on toast.
- With scrambled eggs for breakfast.
- As a pasta sauce – just mix with freshly cooked pasta, sprinkle some Parmesan cheese, and enjoy!

I do not recommend freezing avocado-based dressings as it can affect the texture and consistency. It’s best to store it in the refrigerator and use it within a few days. It only takes 5v minutes to ake fresh one again.
If the dressing is too thick, you can thin it out by adding a little filtered water until you reach your desired consistency.
Yes, this homemade dressing is gluten-free. Unlike store-bought dressings that may contain thickeners and flavors made from wheat, this recipe ensures a 100% gluten-free option.
